Money for Conference Travel from IAEYC - Deadline 2/19/2010

Through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), funds have been targeted for scholarships to the 2010 Indiana Early Childhood Conference. The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration, Division of Family Resources, Bureau of Child Care will partner with Indiana AEYC to provide $50,000 in financial assistance to early care and education professionals within the state. The maximum Indiana Early Childhood Conference Scholarship is $315. The scholarship can cover the cost of registration and hotel. Expenses associated with meals and mileage are not included.

To qualify for an Indiana Early Childhood Conference Scholarship, applicants must adhere to the following guidelines:

The applicant must be a paid, full-time staff member (30 hours or more) in an Indiana licensed child care center, licensed child care home, or unlicensed registered child care ministry.
Applicant’s licensed child care center, licensed child care home, or unlicensed registered child care ministry must be in good-standing and legally operating in the state of Indiana.
Applicant must reside in Indiana.
Scholarships are non-transferrable and must be used by the intended recipient only.
Scholarships are not available for Pre-Conference (April 8) sessions.
Applications accepted via fax and mail only.
Incomplete applications will not be considered (please see application for details about required documentation).
Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2010.

Hotel is only available to applicants who live over 50 miles from Indianapolis according to Mapquest or Rand McNally.

Scholarship recipients are responsible for all hotel amenities. The scholarship does not cover room service, gratuity, internet service, or alcoholic beverages.

Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis taking into account the following selection criteria:

Geographic location – the state will be divided into three regions (north, central, and south)
Auspice – center, home, and ministry
Good-standing in CareFinder
No more than two scholarships per auspice site

Timeline:

February 8 – February 19: Scholarship applications available
February 19 - 5:00p.m., Deadline to return the scholarship application and accompanying documents
February 21 – February 26: Notification of scholarship awards
